CHURCH OF THE RED HATS

RED HAT 1: Oh, what a wonderful day to be in the house of the Lord

RED HAT 2: Oh yes. It’s so nice to be able to meet with people who believe the same things, to fellowship with our spiritual family, to get away from the world

(RED HAT 1 & 2 mingle and converse about the weather, people, etc.)

GREEN HAT: Good morning (to 1 & 2, who ignore purple hat)

RED HAT 1 (to themselves, almost whispering): Can you believe her?

RED HAT 2: The nerve of some people

RED HAT 1: Some people just don’t know their place

RED HAT 2: I can’t believe she thinks that she would be welcome here

GREEN HAT: Guys, I said good morning. Isn’t it wonderful to be in the house of the Lord (and other things that try to get their attention. Eventually, Purple Hat gets mad, and says loudly: Why aren’t you talking to me???

RED HAT 1 (very rude): You don’t know?

RED HAT 2 (very rude): Isn’t it obvious?

RED HAT 1 & 2: The hat!!!

GREEN HAT leaves sobbing

DEACON CHRIS (steps up to pulpit): Welcome to service this morning. Let’s begin with a word of prayer. Lord we thank thee that we are not like the green hat people. Walking around with a headdress of a different color. We know what pleases you, Lord, and we know that green does not. Amen. And now, would everyone stand and sing number 220, “Stand Up For Jesus”
