WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP NEWS

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 13, 2007. The theme will be “Spreading Love Around the World”, hosted by the Lydia Circle. We would like to invite all the ladies of the church to join us , remember you don’t need to belong to a circle to attend. Baby sitting will be provided.

The Homecoming Committee is looking for old photos & memorabilia from the church’s past 145 years. Copies will be made, so that your originals can be returned to you. Also we need addresses of former members, so that we can invite them to Homecoming next year. Thank You!

The Lydia Circle meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at one of the member's home. They dedicate their time to the following projects:

Support Dorothy Eunson (missionary in Ghana)

Support Teddy Bear Patrol (donates teddy bears for police to give to children in accidents, etc.)

Prepare Valentine boxes for college students and servicemen away from home

Prepare fruit baskets for shut-ins at Thanksgiving

Send gifts to those in the hospital

Send cards to shut-ins

Present a fruit basket to senior saints on their 80th birthdays

The Rachel Circle meets the 3rd Monday of each month at the church or a member's home. They dedicate their time to following projects:

Prepare gift baskets for families with new babies

Support the church camp (dimes project)

Host Men's Breakfast 2nd Saturday of each month

Send cards to those in the hospital and shut-ins

Present reminder card and pins to those baptized

Make visits to Nursing Homes

Prepare gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child

The Ruth Circle meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am at a member's home. Everyone brings a sandwich and the host provides a beverage and dessert. They start with a short devotion and end with a time of prayer and praise. They dedicate their time to the following projects:

Sponsor the "Night of Christian Talent"

Support the church camp

Support the Junior Choir Christmas Musical pizza party

Support the food pantry

The Women's Fellowship was established at Sweet Valley Church of Christ some 30 years ago and still exists today consisting of women of the church with a three-fold object in mind: spiritual growth, service, and fellowship. The purpose of this information is to make everyone aware of this ministry and give the opportunity to all ladies to serve in this way if they desire. The Fellowship is always looking for and welcoming new members to further the purpose of the fellowship.

The Women's Fellowship has its own officers and conducts meetings, but is divided into three groups known as Circles. Each Circle has its own officers and projects and meets once a month. The Circle chairwoman is part of the Executive Board of the Fellowship and the circles host the Fellowship meetings on a rotating basis.

The Fellowship meetings are the second Tuesday of every other month beginning in February at 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall. There is a theme for the night with a short program, refreshments, and fellowship all following the business meeting. All ladies are invited to these programs whether you are in a circle or not. Babysitting is also provided.

The Fellowship also has committees to handle some projects for the church such as baby presentations, funeral dinners, Homecoming meal, and baptistery supplies. They also hold an annual all-church picnic in August, a Mother/Daughter tea, and other special fellowship meals for the congregation. We also draw names among ourselves each year for "Secret Sisters/Secret Pals" to give gifts and surprises to throughout the year.

An offering is collected at each meeting and various fund-raisers are held by the Fellowship and the Circles. The money is used for the projects and also to support special projects of the church (money has been given to the youth group for PCTC and camp cleanup for many years) and other mission needs.
